Site-specific therapeutics

2020 - current

Commonly used drugs often have side effects and drug-drug interactions. These side effects are particularly problematic in therapeutics for the brain. As a result we have limited capability to deal with neuropsychiatric disorders.

In this highly clinically-oriented research project we are developing methods of restricting action of therapeutics to just the right cells, in the right brain region, to treat brain disorders with little to no side effects.

The project is supported by the Welch Foundation since 2020.
